Had an incredible time touring Taipei, Taiwan (cou Had an incredible time touring Taipei, Taiwan (country 73). I didn’t know it when booking things, but it happened to be Taiwans national holiday and seeing fireworks going off from Taipei 101 was so neat.
On one of our days in French Guiana we took a boat On one of our days in French Guiana we took a boat to visit Devil’s Island (actually 3 islands) which housed very brutal prisons. Sharks were very prevalent and helped keep the prisoners from trying to swim away (as well as being quite far off the coast).

French Guiana has a sordid past as a penal colony with Henri Charrière aka “Papillon” as one of the most famous prisoners. Today the space center is the main focus and it was so interesting being in the EU, but in South America.
We spent a few nights in Paramaribo, but didn’t We spent a few nights in Paramaribo, but didn’t explore the city until after we returned from the rain forest. The city is so charming and you can see its Dutch origins all over. It was so interesting to see a Mosque right next door to a synagogue and overall everyone exudes the chill Caribbean vibes. Beyond the city itself we went out on the river again to tour a couple of plantations that are still actively working.
Such a nice time traveling about 2 hours up the Su Such a nice time traveling about 2 hours up the Suriname River to a lodge on its own island. We were able to swim in the river off the island and got to explore the local village Dan where about 300 people live. Lots of wildlife and unexpectedly nice accommodations.
The start of an epic adventure through the Three G The start of an epic adventure through the Three Guianas. After a very late arrival to Guyana and a few hours sleep we went out exploring Georgetown. Guyana recently discovered oil off their coast and you can already see the investments being made. After the city we took an hour flight to Kaieteur Falls which is the largest single drop waterfall in the world at 741 ft.

Panama Canal, Wildlife and an island 2 hours off t Panama Canal, Wildlife and an island 2 hours off the Panama coast. We had a great time exploring Panama. Easy flights from the US, very safe and so much to do.
The Casco Viejo neighborhood of Panama started in The Casco Viejo neighborhood of Panama started in the late 1600s and has such gorgeous architecture and 9 churches within the 10 by 5 block area.
Guayaquil was the final city we visited in Ecuador Guayaquil was the final city we visited in Ecuador. It was significantly different than Quito, being a coastal city, and felt rougher overall. It was still great to visit and we had fun riding the cable car public transportation and exploring one of the largest cemeteries in South America.
During my Ecuador trip I visited the island of San During my Ecuador trip I visited the island of San Cristobal, which is one of the Galápagos Islands. Giant tortoises, diving iguanas, blue footed boobies, hundreds and hundreds of sea lions and more call these islands home. Sadly no diving this trip, but I’ll be back to swim with lots more ocean creatures eventually.
Quito is the second highest capital city in the wo Quito is the second highest capital city in the world at 9350ft. You definitely felt the reduced oxygen waking around the city. Just outside of Quito is the equator line splitting up the northern and south hemisphere. Overall a really nice area to visit.
After a long 5 hour drive through the mountain ran After a long 5 hour drive through the mountain ranges outside of Quito is Tena, part of the Amazon rain forest. We had a couple nights in a lodge in the forest and took a few hikes and boat rides and saw several things that can kill you :)
This was my 4th time visiting London and finally g This was my 4th time visiting London and finally got a chance to visit the Churchill war rooms which was very worth seeing. Also found the tube station with the longest escalator (Angel Station with a vertical rise of 27m and overall length of 61m). I’m still not a huge London fan but we had great weather and the crowds weren’t too bad yet.
We took a day trip from London to Oxford to explor We took a day trip from London to Oxford to explore several of the colleges that make up the University of Oxford. The age of some of them is crazy, oldest from the mid 13th century. The town was gorgeous and led to several of the scenes in Harry Potter movies as well as inspiration for Tolkien and CS Lewis’ books.
While in Scotland we got out to the highlands for While in Scotland we got out to the highlands for a day. Beyond gorgeous with amazing weather for us.
First time visiting Scotland and while it doesn’ First time visiting Scotland and while it doesn’t up my country count, it was definitely worth the visit. Edinburgh was so amazing as a capital city and amazingly walkable.
The final part of my Middle East trip was UAE. Mos The final part of my Middle East trip was UAE. Most of my time was spent in Dubai and it did not disappoint. Everything in the city is taken to 11 with so much more development planned. It’s very much lacking public transportation with taxis being pretty much it, this coupled with all the traffic was my only real complaint.
Headed out from Dubai to visit the capital city, A Headed out from Dubai to visit the capital city, Abu Dhabi. The level of contructiom here is off the charts as in other Middle East locales. Views from the Etihad Towers, touring the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (building cost of $550m+), and a visit to the Abu Dhabi branch of the Louvre.
